A great place to gather – and eat pizza!
One of the many benefits of joining a CSA is that you get to interact with the earth and your community in new ways. By harvesting your own veggies, you not only learn more about the plants that sustain us, but you have more opportunities to get to know the people who live nearby. At Dysterjordet andelslandbruk, we have been working to create a stronger social environment on our field, and we are excited to announce one of our newest additions to the field – Dysterdomen – our pizza oven!
In 2021, a group of members learned how to construct a clay pizza oven. They mixed clay with their bare feet and built Dysterdomen with their own hands. Now, Dysterdomen has been fired up many times and members have been able to enjoy the tasty treats we can create with our pizza oven. One creation that people are still talking about, is the dessert pizza, topped with fresh mint from our herb spiral!
With the addition of Dysterdomen, we can fire up the oven, stretch out some dough, and cook pizzas, breads, or even roast fresh veggies from the field! Now, our members not only harvest local, organic veggies to take home, but have the opportunity to cook on the field – together. We’ve seen more people gathering around the pizza oven, sharing recipes, and getting to know each other. And after a few hours of working on the field, we get to put our feet up, relax, and eat together! So the next time you find yourself walking by the field, see if you can smell a hard-earned, lovely common meal nearby.
